Well this weekend was an exciting weekend but at the same time tiring. On Friday night I decided to go to a roping in the valley, not prepared to go I had to get stuff ready for the next day. I only had about three hours of sleep that night and left around 4 o’clock in the morning for Queen Creek, I shouldn’t have went because I wasn’t ready to rope but for some reason I had a gut feeling that I would do good. That Saturday I spent like twelve hours at the arena waiting most of the time for the roping to finish which seemed like it took eternity. While the sun was about to hit the west side mountains in the valley, I finally got my chance to rope after 660 teams with my auntie. I finally realized why I shouldn’t have went because the outcome wasn’t good because I was the one to miss it for her and there went my one hundred dollars down the drain. Maybe that’s why people say “practice makes perfect” I thought in my head. I should of took a second thought about my choices because I was not ready for this roping since I have not roped for at least three weeks. But on the other hand it is always good to fight it out, I learned that day, especially when the times were down. I had one more chance to finish it out right, one more partner to rope with in the final round. After letting down my auntie, I was down in the dumps, mad at myself so I gathered myself together. The final round, I was roping with this girl that was pretty good. So I went into the box about to rope and all of a sudden the nerves hit me but I stuck it out and nodded my head to let the steer out. BOOM!!! With revenge I came back and roped my steer while my partner did her job. Got to give it to this girl, I underestimated her thinking she would miss it for me. Made me realize that girls can do bigger things than guys. Especially when at this roping two girls won two of the three trucks that were given out as prizes at this roping. Eventually the outcome was good enough for me to take seventh place so with great patience you get excellent outcomes. Sometimes you just have to go with that gut feeling because it will lead to wonderful success.
I understand how you had that gut feeling it can happen in any sport. You will have your up and downs, but like you said you can learn from them. Like you said practice makes perfect especially in roping. In order to rope u have to have technique. The steers you never know what they will do they can run fast or just jog. They can even turn quick right outside the gate.

ReplyDeleteokay i dont know much about roping but man i do have to say it looks so hard to rope a steer! i think its a good thing that you went on that trip, you learned that practice makes perfect and gut feeling never fails! :) its good to know that you didnt even up on the next event you had...you stuck it out and let your butterflies fly away. just remember, whenever its a competition make sure you have some fun with it too, that always makes it better!
